When you are a new EMT or paramedic at an agency its hard. You don’t yet have your own “flow” just yet and you tend to fall back on your textbook type approach to patients.
While there is nothing wrong with that. You also must start to take cues from your experienced partners and co-workers. Beginning to understand and recognize critical patients more rapidly is key to your success in EMS as well as the outcome of the patients.
In this episode I am joined by Shannon Bright who is a paramedic at a large agency with a high turnover rate. This can be frustrating for both new providers and experienced ones like Shannon. They are required to rapidly recognize not just patient issues, but issues that are demanded by an agency like scene times, hospital times and responses.
